Plaster Casts of Teeth

Salvaged from Muirhouse Dental Practice

On the site of the Pennywell All Care Centre used to be the Muirhouse Dental Practice or ‘the 50p dentist’ as it was known by local residents. The name didn’t refer to any dental charges but was adopted because of the distinctive heptagon shape of the building.

These dental impressions are samples that were saved from the Dentist building prior to its demolition to make way for the PACC.  Any names, initials or dates of birth have been removed to protect the identity of the owners. It’s curious and interesting to note that dental imprints are one of the last things that can be used to identify individuals long after they have gone and these impressions might be one of the last things that will hold memories and stories of ‘the 50p dentist’.
