'My late husband Pat and I started collecting John Wayne souvenirs after seeing the John Wayne film ‘The Quiet Man’ together while we were courting back in the 1950’s.

Pat had loved watching John Wayne movies from his childhood and his father had been a ‘cowboy’ as a young man working on a ranch in Canada.  These influences continued with him throughout his life and was something he shared with me over our years together.  We were members of the Country and Western Club and had several holidays in the USA.  On one of our holidays in the USA we had the privilege to meet John Wayne’s son, Michael Wayne in Los Angeles.  Pat had his picture taken with Michael and Michael gave us some of his personal photographs of his father!

Pat’s favourite item would have been his rare limited edition John Wayne medal, mine are the photographs I have of Pat dressed in his John Wayne outfit.

Collecting helps to keep dreams alive and collections help to keep happy memories alive.'
