Alarm Clock

Donated by Scott Hunter

The theme of passing time is a recurring one in The People’s Museum of Memory and Myth.  The object that many of us love to hate, from the days before phones with alarms or even radio alarms, wind-up alarm clocks like this ‘Little Ben’ would sit on many bed-side cabinets waiting to shock their owners back from the land of nod. This particular clock faithfully woke Scott Hunter up for his work in Leith docks five and sometimes six days a week for over twenty years.  Not only that, Scott claims in those twenty years he was never late for work once!  His clock now rests proudly in the museum and Scott enjoys his long-lies!
