Pair of Lawn Bowls

Donated by Queensberry Bowling Club,

John Dickson

A pair of lawn bowls from the club house. While many bowlers will have their own personal bowls the club is keen to be as accessible and inclusive as possible and has a small store of bowls for new members and visitors to use. Bowls were traditionally made from Lignum Vitae wood but for the past 100 years have been made from a hard plastic melamine. They are not spherical and don’t roll in a straight line.

John Dickson is the archivist for the bowling club and a local history enthusiast and collector. He is passionate about preserving and sharing history within the local community.
