Megaphone

Donated by Power to the People

This megaphone is a memento from the 1980’s when people from North Edinburgh were mobilised to fight to save jobs, homes, workers rights and communities, their own and others with whom they were quick to stand in solidarity with.

The communities of North Edinburgh have a long and proud history of resistance, protest and political activism. From the 1940’s when residential areas were established in Pilton and Drylaw the values of fairness, justice, equality and opportunity have been important principles which residents have built and fought for. Groups like Power to the People and North Edinburgh Social History keep this vibrant legacy alive and well in the area.
